Mrs. Dorothy Bowling, 61,
8506 N. Branch St., Tampa, Fla, died at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Good Samaritan Hospital, Tampa.
She had moved to Florida not more than five years ago.
Born in College Corner, Oh., she was a daughter of Charles and Florence Napier Smith.
She leaves three sons: Maurice Eugene Roberts, Tampa, William Roberts, Hamilton, Wayne Roberts, Millville; three brothers: Clifford and Forrest Smith, both of Hamilton, Hod Smith, College Corner; three sisters: Mrs. Helen Duckett, and Mrs. Glenna Smalley, both of College Corner, Mrs. Frances Bengy, Hamilton. Services will be 10 a.m.Saturday at the Campbell Funeral Home, 640 High St., with burial in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Dorothy Etta (Smith) Roberts Bowling and her first husband, Kenneth Layefette Roberts, had four sons: Jacque K. "Jack" Roberts, Maurice Eugene "Gene" Roberts, William Herbert "Bill" Roberts, and Wayne Roberts. Dorothy Etta (Smith) Roberts Bowling also had one daughter, Frances Louise Roberts. According to Children's services, David Bowling, was listed as Frances' biological father. Note: Current Ancestry DNA results supports a David Bowling DNA connection. Kenneth and Dorothy were divorced in late 1944. All five of the children were removed from Dorothy's home and became wards of the Butler County Children's Home in 1948. The children were then separated from each other as they were placed in various foster homes. Dorothy and David Bowling did get married in approximately 1949. The four brothers were reunited and found each other after they became adults. Frances was the only one to be adopted by couple in Dayton, Oh. in about early 1949. Her name was changed and she is now known as Meridel Betty "Karen" (Ertel) Williams. Sadly, her four brothers had passed away before Karen was able to locate them.

The Cemetery records indicate that Dorothy E. Bowling was buried in Section Rose Garden Section 06, Lot 31A, Grave 1 on 09/07/1974; however her grave is "unmarked".
