Kenneth Roberts and his wife, Dorothy Etta (Smith) Roberts Bowling, had four sons: Jacque K. "Jack" Roberts, Maurice Eugene "Gene" Roberts, William Herbert "Bill" Roberts, and Wayne Roberts during their almost 10 years of marriage. Kenneth and Dorothy were divorced in late 1944. Their four sons were removed from Dorothy's home and became wards of the Butler County Children's Home in 1948. The children were then separated from each other as they were placed in various foster homes. The four brothers were reunited and found each other after they became adults.
