Funeral services for an Alto Pass man killed by a falling tree will be Sunday.
Leroy Davis, 35, died Thursday in Union County Hospital from injuries received when a tree fell on him while he was working on the Oscar Hartline farm near Alto Pass. A verdict of accidental death was returned at an inquest Thursday night.
Authorities said a tree Davis cut down apparently knocked down another tree, which fell on him.
Davis was born in Union County in 1921, the son of John and Virgie Mae Davis.
He leaves his wife, Cora Jane; children, Geneva, Lee Ethel, Russell Eugene and Johnny; sisters, Vesta Berry and Mrs. William Mathenny; and grandmother, Mrs. Smith, Cobden.
Services will be at the Broadway Funeral Home in Cobden. Burial will be in Alto Pass Cemetery.
