Stephen A. Gathof, 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2015 at his residence in Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen Chester and Mary Browning Gathof; his loving wife of 45 years, Doris Moore Gathof; and a grandson, Charles Stephen Dupree.
Stephen was a proud veteran of the U. S. Army having served as a Master Sergeant in the Korean War. He loved his country and proved his patriotism with a military service record of close to 30 years! “Papa” as he was affectionately known, was a family man who loved being around family and especially fishing with his grandson Charlie. He was also a trivia expert and probably master level in his trivia knowledge when it came to Jeopardy. Steve Gathof was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him!
You may visit with the family on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Valhalla Funeral Home from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM. There will be a funeral service conducted by Pastor Eric Fuller commencing at 2:00 PM in Valhalla’s chapel.
