Stephen Chester Gathof, 82, of 1843 Heaton Road, died there Monday [October 19, 1987]. He was a retired chemical department foreman for E.I. DuPont deNemours & Co. Survivors: five sons, Stephen Gathof of Huntsville, AL, Jim Gathof of West Point, Louis Miller of Indianapolis and Thomas & John Gathof; five daughters, Joyce Grider, Virginia Skaggs, Shirley Craddock, Patricia Livers and Mary Underwood; 46 grandchildren; and 51 great-grandchildren. Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday, St. Helen Catholic Church, 4005 Dixie Highway, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, after 6 p.m. Tuesday and after 11 a.m. Wednesday.
