He was born Sept. 25, 1922, in Delmer, Ky., a son of Orville and Lola Burton.
He married Inzia Toy Tarter on Aug. 12, 1947, in Jamestown, Ky.
He later married Rosie Lee Kingore in 1963 in Hoopeston. She died in 1990.
Survivors include a daughter, Willie Mae Burton of Georgetown; four sons, Roy Burton of Hoopeston, Marshall Burton of Hoopeston, Michael Ray Burton of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Earl Jay Burton of Collinsville; 17 grandchildren; five step grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Olivene, Amagene and Willadene; a brother, Hollis; a half brother, Athel; a half sister, Blondia; and two stepbrothers, Luid and Gene.
He was preceded in death by a brother, a stepbrother and a step-great-grandson.
Mr. Burton worked at Burton Motor Sales and later was a warehouse manager at Stokely's, Hoopeston.
He served in the Army during World War II and earned a Purple Heart at Okinawa. He enjoyed driving, bicycling and playing guitar.
