John Meek is the son of Lewis and Abigail "Richey" Meek. He was Mustered in 22 JUN 1846, at New Albany, Indiana, by Colonel Samuel Churchill for the Mexican war. PVT John Meek Third Indiana Regiment seriously injured at Buena Vista Mexico 23 FEB 1847. He was Mustered out 25 Jun 1847, at New Orleans, Louisiana, By Colonel Samuel Churchill. John married Mary Adams 5 JAN 1850 Jennings County Indiana, and had three children. He was mustered again in 31 MAR 1862 with Co. H 27th regiment, Indiana Volunteers during the Civil War. He was killed at the battle of Resaca In Georgia May 15 1864.
At this time he is believed to be at the Chattanooga National Cemetery (CNC)as an unknown possibly K-9973 (66213149) or P-6611 (100492619).
Mary "Adams" Meek died 6 MAR 1863 in Jennings County. A John S. Adams became the legal guardian of there three minor children; John Jr. b.1854, Millie b.1857, and James L b.5 MAY 1862.

3.James L. Meek b.1862 - 1927, m. Cora Dicks 14 Oct. 1883
