BERNARD DELSMAN

From Der Nord Westen, 26 Apr. 1894:
Another old settler has left us. Mr. Bernhard Dellsmann died on Tues. morning following a 1-yr. illness.

Mr. Dellsmann was born 27 Nov. 1822 in Ascheberg, Westphalia and so was 72 yrs. old at the time of his death.
He came to America in 1847 directly to Manitowoc County where he worked in several positions until 1851 when he bought a farm.

A few months later he married Bernhardine Eimes. The happy marriage produced 11 children of whom 6 are still living, one of them in Nebraska. About 6 yrs. ago Mr. Dellsmann retired to Manitowoc. (The article goes into detail about the onset of his illness, an operation in Chicago, and the state of his health up to his death.)

He was a member and supporter of the Manitowoc Rapids Farmers’ Fire Insurance Association, which did much good for the farmingcommunity. His brother, Mr. Theodor Dellsmann, is also a farmer, residingin Town Kossuth.

The funeral will take place at 9 a.m. tomorrow at the
Catholic Church.
