Death Fri. from old age debility of Franz Dirkmann at the residence of his daughter here, Mrs. Joseph Molterer.
The deceased was born 21 Oct. 1820 on red earth, and came to America in 1850 to settle on a farm in Town Kossuth. He had to deal with all of the difficulties of pioneer life that early settlers faced, and he often told your editors interesting stories about his early life in the Manitowoc County wilderness…. He leaves 4 sons and a daughter. The funeral took place Mon. morning from St. Boniface Church.

Frank Dirkman Dies After Long Residence in City.
Frank Dirkmann, an aged resident of the city died on Friday evening at the home of his daughter at 1320 South Tenth street, the demise being due to the infirmities of old age.
Decedent was another of Manitowoc's pioneers, coming to this country in 1850 and being along time resident of the city. He was married to Theresa Mohr in 1852 and five children survive to mourn him. They are: Frank and Valentine of Kossuth, Jacob, Tom and Mrs. Joseph Molterer of this city. Decedent was born on Oct. 21, 1820, in Germany. Funeral
arrangements have not been made, the obseques (sic) to be conducted at St. Boniface Catholic church.
