Arthur Ambrose Thralls was born in Montgomery County, Ohio, March 26, 1817 to Richard A Thralls & Mary Ann Snyder. In 1830, when Arthur was only 13 years old, his father was killed by indians.

In 1839 he married Miss Mariah Green in Preble County, Ohio. He fathered two children by this wife; Annie E. and Mary C.

In 1840 he moved to Boone County, Indiana, where his wife later died. In 1847 he married his second wife Lydia (Johns) James, by whom he had six children; George Washington, John H., Rachel Ann, Arthur Ambrose II, Sarah Jane, and Minnie B. He moved the family to Page County, Iowa, in 1861 & died in 1901 at the age of 84 in Little Sioux Township, Woodbury County, Iowa at the home of his son. He is buried in the Bradyville
Cemetery.

Thrall, A.A. - Died
After several weeks struggle with partial paralysis, Mr A. A. Thrall passed away on the morning of June 16th, having reached the ripe old age of 84 years, 2 months and 29 days. The deceased was born in Dayton, Ohio, March 17, 1817, and in l860 came to this county, where he lived until last October, when his son, Mr. John Thrall, of Smithland, Woodbury county, sent for him to live with him in his old age. Six children were born, three of whom together with the mother, preceded the father to the spirit land. The funeral service was conducted at the home in which he died by Rev. Geo. S. Clift, of the M. E. church, after which the remains, accompanied by his son, were conveyed to Braddyville for interment. Thus passed away one who has been identified with the growth and prosperity of our county for many years.
