John is cited as one of three sons of Thomas Lamplugh & Anne/Jane Fairfax of Ruston Parva (or Little Ruston) in Robert Glover's Visitation (b aft 1585 but before 1615). He is also listed as a witness to a property fines involving his brother Chirstopher's brother on law George Kirby of Helperthorpe in 1621 and 1624. He probably lived at Brandesburton, where a John Lamplugh gent was accused of being a Catholic recusant in 1623. His brother Thomas also lived for a time at Brandesburton.
Nothing is known of his descendants, but as Ruston Parva is just 12km from Garton on the Wolds, and these are the only known Lamplugh families near Driffield, it is assumed that they are related. This was the view of early family researcher Anthony Jabez-Smith.
