LAWRENCE J. GEIGER

Lawrence J. Geiger, age 83, a resident of Shady Lane Home, Manitowoc, died Monday evening, May 15, 1995, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 18, 1995, at the Pfeffer Funeral Home and 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc Concelebrating the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. William Zimmer and nephew, Rev. Paul Demuth, with entombment to follow at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc.
He was born September 25, 1911, in Manitowoc, son of the late Charles B. and Ludmilla (Millie) Kabat Geiger. Mr. Geiger was a graduate of Lincoln High School class of 1929. He married the former Germaine A. Mueller on June 11, 1934, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. She preceded him in death September 18, 1994. Mr. Geiger worked for 49 years beginning in his father’s meat business, Geiger and Geisler Meat Market, later purchasing and renaming it Geiger’s Meat Market. After closing the business in 1969, he worked as a steward on various Great Lakes Vessels, retiring as Steward of the Medusa Challenger in 1978. Mr. Geiger was a past member of the Manitowoc Elks Club, Lions Club, and the Chamber of Commerce. He was also a past member of the Knights of Columbus, Sacred Heart Holy Name Society, and Sacred Heart Athletic Club. Mr. Geiger was an usher for many years at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was also a volunteer at North Ridge Care Center, leading the weekly rosary. Mr. Geiger was also a life member of the International Shipmasters Association Lodge #18.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Water Aumann, Brookfield; three sons and four daughters-in-law; Charles and Joanne Geiger, Manitowoc; John and Carol Geiger, Trego, Wis., Thomas and Connie Geiger, Oxford, Wis.; special daughter-in-law, Rosie Geiger, Two Rivers; one sister Ludmilla Hamilton, Oak Ridge, Tenn. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Angela Mae Geiger and an infant brother, Karl Geiger.
Friends may call at the Pfeffer Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. this Wednesday (TODAY) where a Rosary Service will be held at 7 p.m. by Rev. William Zimmer.
Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Shady Lane Home.
