Otho E. Craft, Jr., 76, of Wise, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2015, at Holston Valley Regional Center in Kingsport, Tennessee. Otho was born in Covington, Virginia, a son to the late Otho and Roxie Entsminger Craft.

Otho was a 4-H All Star and a graduate of Covington High School. Otho earned his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech; while attending Virginia Tech he worked summers as a lineman for the C&O Railroad. He was a member of Air Force N Squadron in the Corps of Cadets. Upon graduation, Otho began work in the General Services Administration-Region III. Otho's crew worked to restore fireplaces in the White House. They also worked in the Pentagon and other government buildings. Otho was called to active duty in the National Guard in Columbia, South Carolina where he served six months, followed by six years as a National Guardsman, mostly in Roanoke, Virginia. After active duty in the Army, Otho worked as a Civil Engineer for Hayes, Seay, Mattern and Mattern in Roanoke.

Otho married Margaret Sue Hollyfield of Pound, Virginia whom he met during an engineering inspection of Tom's Creek Dam in Coeburn, Virginia. Otho also worked for Wiley and Wilson in Lynchburg, Virginia where he was Project Manager and Design Engineer. The project which gave Otho the most pride while at Wiley and Wilson was the design of a wastewater treatment plant for an Amoco Oil refinery in Whiting, Indiana. Otho and his family moved to Wise, Virginia in 1981 where he became a partner at Thompson and Litton. Otho and Hoyt Williams became partners and owners of the firm for several years until they decided to incorporate more partners to expand work toward retirement.

Otho served as President from 1970-1997 and then as Chairman of the Board at Thompson and Litton. He continued on as a Director and Advisor until he retired in 2014 after 33 years of service. Otho was voted a fellow lifetime member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He served as President and Director of the Consulting Engineers of Virginia from 1992-1994. Otho served on the Town of Wise Planning Commission and was Chairman for the past several years. He was also on the Board of Zoning Appeals for Wise County. Otho was a dedicated member of the Gladeville Presbyterian Church serving as an Elder for many years. He also served as a delegate to the Presbyterian General Assembly in Louisville, Kentucky. Otho was an avid hunter and member of Bear Loop Hunt Club in Millboro, Virginia from 1962-2015, serving as President during 2014.

One of eleven brothers and sisters, he was preceded in death by sisters, Edith Marie C. Leffel, Nancy Ellen Craft, and Velma C. Bland; brothers, Lawrence Clinton Craft, Lacy Dawes Craft and Allen Blair Craft.

Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Margaret Hollyfield Craft; daughters, Laura Mullins and husband, Archie, of Wise, Virginia, Connie Shiplett and husband, Stuart, of Marietta, Georgia; and son, Eric Michael Craft and wife, Elizabeth "Opie," of Wise Virginia; six grandchildren, Tom, Emily and Ben Padgett, Matthew and Garrett Shiplett; and Mason Craft. Surviving relatives include sisters, Myrtle C. Sellers, of Carrs Creek, Virginia and Brenda C. Smith, of Lexington, Virginia; brothers, Gerald W. Craft (Elaine), of Covington, Virginia and Norman L. Craft (Nancy), of Daleville, Virginia, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Gladeville Presbyterian Church in Wise, Virginia. Services will be held at 2.p.m. with the Rev. Will Gipe officiating. Burial will follow in the Wise Cemetery.
