Daughter of James and Rose Connell O'Malley; wife of Harry McCarthy
Ann R. (O'Malley) McCarthy of Avoca died Saturday evening at Mercy Hospital. Her husband, Harry V. McCarthy, preceded her in death. Born in Avoca, on July 19, 1931, she was the daughter of the late James and Rose Connell O'Malley. She was a graduate of Avoca High School and worked for many years at Kmart in Moosic. She was a member of St. Mary's Church, Avoca, and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Avoca. Surviving are two sons, Patrick and Brian, both of Avoca; two sisters, Marguerite Gaylets, Philadelphia, and Catherine McMullen, Plattsburg, N.Y; several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, William, James, Joe, and Lawrence O'Malley, and two sisters, Frances Bell, and Grace McHale. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, 728 Main St., Avoca, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Mary's Church.
