Helen, daughter of Grant and Eva Embree, was born August 15, 1898, and died January 2, 1992 at the Good Samaritan Center in Red Oak, Iowa.
She was married to Lester V. Smith on September 9, 1916 at Red Oak, Iowa. He died June 9, 1987.
Helen lived in Montgomery County all of her life, most of the years in the Grant community before moving to Red Oak in 1982.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Grant United Methodist Church, Grant American Legion Auxiliary, and Elliott Eastern Star.
Survivors include her daughter, Lola and her husband, John Ogden of Stanton, four grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Geneva Taylor of Thousand Oaks, California; brother Harold Embree of Arcada, New York; and daughter-in-law, Bette Smith.
