Mr. Barthuly was born July 24, 1887 in New Balzer, Russia, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Barthuly. He came to Lincoln, Neb. in 1906. He married Barbara Kammerzell in Waverly, Iowa, Sept. 27, 1908. They came to Laurel in 1918.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Laurel.
Survivors include his wife: six sons, John of 704 N. 30th St., Henry of Kennewick, Wash., Edward and Dennis of Laurel, Calvin of Livingston and Harry of 1831 Ave C.; four daughters, Mrs. Larry Cramer of Burlington, Wis., Mrs. Frank Von Wagner of Channelview, Tex., Mrs. Sam Hanstrom of Denver and Mrs. Rieneaus Sticka of Bridger; a brother, Henry of Fond du Lac, Wis.: 35 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
