Obituary from Kirchbote, v.74, 16 Feb 1956
Johannes Barthuli, the son of Johannes Bartuli and his wife Katharina née Grasmik, was born on March 3, 1886 in the city of Neu-Balzer, Russia. As a child, he was consecrated to the Lord in holy baptism, and then received training and confirmation. On December 27, 1911, he and Katharina Popp entered a state of sacred marriage under the chairmanship of Pastor Möllmann of Kanz. He came to America in 1913 where he worked in Lincoln, Nebraska. He worked for a railroad company for 3 years and then for a year in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, on a farm. He then moved to Laurel, Montana, where he again worked on the railroad until 1922. Now his wife and daughter came to America, who finally arrived in 1923 despite many hardships. They then moved to Hordford, Wisconsin, where he found work in a tannery. He also worked in Milwaukee for several years and then they moved to Fond du Lac and he worked for a while in a coffin factory and then again on the railroad until 1953. At the age of 67, he retired. He was a member of the Evangelical Reform Church. He was never sick and always hardworking. He was unwell for only a few days when he died unexpectedly on December 7, 1955. The deceased has 5 sons and 3 daughters, most of whom live next to the grieving mother. The duration of his pilgrimage was 69 years and 9 months. He also has two brothers, Karl von Laurel, Montana and Heinrich von du Lac, as well as 17 grandchildren and many friends. Served as pastor Karl Koehler. Text, Revelation 3.8
