The deceased was born in Ilion July 1st, 1843, and has resided in Ilion nearly all of his life, where he was respected as one of Ilion's leading residents. He was an honest and upright citizen and his death will bring sadness to the many with whom he has been associated. For many years Mr. Hartford was a foreman at the plant of the Remington Arms and Ammunition Company and later was employed in the tool department of the Typewriter Works.
