Birth year is approximate. Hester Ann is listed as the youngest child in Wight's Claflin genealogy, but she didn't appear in the 1850 census with her family. She died young. It's likely she died in Homer, Licking, Ohio if she were the youngest child. According to Lois Beachy Underhill's biography, "The Woman who Ran for President," Delia and Odessa Maldiva died before their sister Victoria's birth, and Hester was "born in 1849 and died in early childhood." The 1850 census records proves that Odessa was the one born around 1849. It's possible Hester wasn't the youngest and she was one of the infants, not Odessa, who died before Victoria's birth. Anna Claflin's Bible which could clear up these discrepancies in birth dates and birth order has not been made public.
