Blues Musician. A native of Pleasant Grove, Mississippi, he was a member of the musical group, "Big Daddy Kinsey and The Kinsey Report", which he formed with his sons, Ralph, Donald, and Kenneth Kinsey in Gary, Indiana, in 1984. A remarkable musician, Kinsey played both the slide guitar and the harp blower. Considered to be the next Muddy Waters, he was a top notch attraction out of Gary, Indiana. He played blues music in the style and sound of Mississippi, and Chicago, Illinois, most notably Delta, deep, and post-war styles. He also played the styles of reggae, hard rock, and funk music. Kinsey also performed with many local artists, and others including James Cotton, Sugar Blue, Pinetop Perkins, and the great Buddy Guy. After joining with his sons in there band, he also released his greatest solo album, "I Am The Blues." Kinsey continued to record and peform with both his sons band and as a successful solo artist until his death from prostate cancer at the age of 74, in Gary, Indiana. A veteran of World War II, he served as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force.
