Herman W. Knapp was born July 10, 1862, in Medo, Blue Earth county, Minn., and came to Douglas county with his parents when a small boy and has resided in this community ever since. In 1907 he bought the present farm in Alexandria township, where he passed away Sunday. He was married to Emma Carpenter April 15, 1903, and she is left to mourn his loss. He is also survived by a brother George at Portland, Ore., and one sister Mrs. Lizzie Covel at Grand, Pas, Oregon.
Funeral services were held at the Free Methodist church of which he was a member, Wednesday afternoon. Rev. Winn of South Haven officiated, assisted by Rev. Elliot, pastor of the church. Interment was made in Kinkead cemetery. The pallbearers were Christ Knutson, Otto Lund, A. Svenby, Fred Johnson, George Olson and August Anderson.
