FUNERAL
MR. T. P. BERRIGAN
The death occurred in Lewisham Hospital, Wagga, on Thursday of a well-known and respected resident of Wagga. Mr. Thomas Phillip Berrigan, of 28 Kildare Avenue, after a week's Illness. He was aged 82 years. Mr. Berrigan was born at Mount Blowhard, Ballarat (V.) and when a young man he went to Young, where he married Miss Theresa M'Garr. For several years he was in business in Goulburn and Murrumburrah and later he joined the staff of Messrs. Crawford and Connolly, of Beech worth (V.), well-known coach proprietors of the early days, in whose employ he was for 25 years, being stationed at Albury. Corowa, Tallangatta and Corryong. He was held in the highest: esteem by the directors and his fellow employees. Mr. Berrigan came to Wagga in 1915 and made his home in Best-street. For many years he ran a cab for hire In Wagga and was one of the best known Identities in th» town. He made many friends and was highly thought of by the many who travelled with him. He is survived by two sons and two daughters, Mrs. E. D. Chalker, of Docker-street, Wagga, Mrs. M. Larkin, of Manly, Norman (returned soldier), of Manly, and Hubert Berrigan (youngest son), of 28 Kildare Avenue, Wagga. His wife died in 1921 and one son (Basil) was accidentally killed at Pomingalarna Station, Wagga, in 1919. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon and was largely attended by many friends. The cortege moved from St. Michael's Cathedral, Wagga, after prayers had been read by the Rev. Father Gallagher. The interment was in the family portion of the Catholic cemetery, Wagga, the Rev. Father Gallagher officiating at the graveside. The casket, laden with floral tributes, was carried by Messrs. John Purcell, Charles Horsley, F. J. Brady, A. D. Ryan, Ernest O'Shea and J. Stanton. The chief mourners at the graveside were Mrs. Chalker and Mrs. Larkin (daughters), Mr. H. Berrigan (son), Mrs. H. Berrigan (daughter-in-law), Mr. D. Chalker (son-in-law). Misses Norma and Dot Berrigan, Miss Sheila Chalker. Mr. and Mrs. K. Chalker, Mr. Norman Chalker. and Mr. and Mrs. J. Tilden (grandsons and granddaughters). Among the many friends noticed at the graveside were Messrs. Clout, P. Rake, Mr. and Mrs. J. O'Connor, A. Sadleir, Miss P. Brown. Frank Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Klein, Phil Benson, Reg Purtell, C. Horsley, Miss Purcell. One son, Mr. Norman Berrigan, of Manly, was unable to be present. Amongst the many floral tributes was a wreath from Mr. M. Gillman and staff, of Wagga. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr. J. C. M'Donald, Wagga.
