Chief Colorow was a friend of my Great Grandfather, Alexander Brazelton. The story told to us is that the Chief and his braves would come down to Alex's little log cabin south of Elbert, CO just out from the bluffs and they would challenge Alex to wrestle. So, Alex did what they wanted. So as it went if Alex was able to throw the brave then all the others would cheer and clap! Obviously they wanted more of that! Now if the brave wound up throwing Alex then all the others would get riled up and they did not like that! Alex did what he could to keep them all happy. Also, The Chief was fond of raw bacon and he liked it dipped in sugar. He got Alex to give him a big slab of bacon and some sugar so he could dip it. This was the kind of friendship these two men had.

It is said that he was wounded in a fight with a posse that was sent to find him and return him to the resevation on the Colorado-Utah boarder. He died shortly after that from his wounds. It is unclear where he is actually buried.
