On February 19, 1919, she was married to Walter Stewart. They made their home near Grant until moving to Villisca in 1945. Mr. Stewart preceded her in death on May 14, 1957.
Mrs. Stewart was a member of the Strand Lutheran Church until she moved to Villisca, at which time she joined the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. She was an active member of both churches and loved to sew.
Mrs. Stewart is survived by one sister, Lillian Givan of Lincoln, Nebraska and one brother, John Govig of Villisca, as well as nieces and nephews. George Landon made his home with the Stewarts for ten years. Robert Govig, her nephew came to live with the Stewarts at age five, after the death of his mother, and made his home with them until he married.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Arthur and Lester, and four sisters, Jessie Cavitt, Emma Ingersoll, Anna Salstrand, and Josie Govig, who died as an infant.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 27, 1985, at 2:00 p.m. at the Wolfe Funeral Home with the Pastor James Murray officiating. Clara Clausen was organist with Hartford Cooper singing, “Take My Hand Precious Lord” and “Amazing Grace.” Helen Ranker was at the register. Ushers were Victor and Oliver Herzberg. Flower bearers were Alma Bantz, Betty Hendrick, and Virgil and Lorraine Sunderman. Pall bearers were Glen Govig, Glen Wherlis, Alex Fink, Ken Cartwright, Jon Petty, Richard Govig, and Roger Govig. Burial was in the Grant Cemetery.
