Ruben was active within the ranching and agriculture community. He ran a shearing crew in Junction for many years, bought and sold livestock to Mexico for over 20 years, and lived in McLoud Oklahoma, Junction, and Laredo, Texas.
He is the son of the late Domingo Abilez and Isabel Murillo Abilez of Junction, Texas.
He leaves behind children Ruben Abilez, Jr. and his wife, Moraima, of McLoud, Oklahoma, Viola Davis and husband, Danny, of Arcadia and their mother Minnie Williams of Choctaw and Ashley Roady and her husband, Ryne, currently stationed in Las Vegas, Nevada, and her mother, Susan Britton of Lubbock, Texas.
He is also survived by his siblings Jose Abilez Sr. and his wife, Maria, of Junction, Rosalinda (Ginda) Gonzales, and her husband, Humberto (Beto), of Junction and Ernest Abilez Sr. of Fort Worth, Texas.
Ruben also leaves behind his grandchildren Torrey Daniels, Danielle Davis Sager, Brently Abilez, and Ryan Abilez, and also many nieces and nephews.
Services for Ruben will be on January 26, at the St. Theresa Catholic Church in Junction at 11:30 a.m.
Following the service, Ruben will be laid to rest at the Little Mexico Cemetery in Junction.
