A descendant of the Ross Clan of Scotland, her Great Grandmother Mary Ross was connected to the legendary family of the province of Ross in Northern Scotland.
She worked in Lexington as a house maid in 1920, but married James McKinley Haddix from Merna in June of 1920. It is believed they met near Northport.
She and James raised eight chidren together and lived near or in Bridgeport over 60 years. Their last residence was on P Street in Bridgeport. She passed just a few months before her 100th Birthday.
She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church and the Women's Club of Bridgeport.
Survivors include her children Lulabell "Dixie" Whitmer of Seward, James R. "Dick" Haddix of Oshkosh, Alice Stanton of Lincoln, Oscar P. Haddix of Cody, WY, Donald R. Haddix of Joplin, MO and Joan Hedin of Carthage, MO, 28 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents, husband, and two sons, Joe and Mack.
