Harold Collier, 58, of rural Columbia City died Monday, May 4, 2015 at his home. He had been in failing health.

He was born February 20, 1957 in Shelbyville, Indiana a son of the late Vincent Lonnie and Pearl Mae (Holcomb) Collier. His formative years were spent in Columbia City. He graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1975.

On August 10, 1977 he entered active duty with the U.S. Air Force. He became an armament specialist with the rank of Sergeant. He received his honorable discharge September 9, 1981.

He worked for Dana, Fort Wayne for approximately 14 years and then Busche in Albion until 2013.

Spending time with his grandchildren was his passion. Known as “Mr. Fixit” among his family, he could fix or repair anything around the house.

He is survived by his two children, son, Kristofer Collier, Fort Wayne and daughter, Mae Lynn Collier, Warsaw; six grandchildren; siblings, Ed Collier of S.C., Stacy Dear, Wallace (Peggy) Collier, Sandra Collier, and Rick (Shanna) Collier, all of Columbia City and a half brother, Paul Maggard.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Collier; a sister, Mantie Furnas; a half-sister, Marie Profit and two half-brothers, Tim and Dan Maggard.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial will be in the South Park Annex Cemetery. The visitation will be 12:00 noon until service Friday at the funeral home.
