Prayer vigil will be at 7 p.m. today in Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Celebration of life services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Good News Church with David Alvarado, pastor, and Jon McCullough, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery.
Mr. Gonzales was born Oct. 25, 1933, in Karnes City, the son of Manuel and Dolores Gonzales. He married Amelia Aldaco on May 29, 1955, in Anton. Mr. Gonzales retired after 10 years of service as a night watchman for Cattle Town Feed Lot in Hereford and attended Good News Church in Hereford.
He was a devoted husband, loving father, great brother and a dependable friend. He taught his children to be strong and successful in life, but more importantly, he taught them how to love. His greatest joy was being a grandparent. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Erasmo "Raz" Gonzales, Benito Gonzales Jr. and Raymond Gonzales, all of Hereford; a special friend, Noe Molina of Houston, who was considered a son; nine daughters, Diane Rangel of Littlefield, Delia Vargas of Levelland, Irma Gamez of Amarillo, and Martha Gonzales, Linda Flores, Dora Madrigal, Elva Mendoza, Emma Hoelscher and Mandy Perez, all of Hereford; two brothers, David Gonzales of Hart and Jose Angel Gonzales of Hereford; three sisters, Rita Peralta of San Antonio and Maria Vargas and Aurora Diaz, both of Littlefield; 34 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
