Wathena Pioneer Dead.
Julius Meugniot of Wathena, Kansas, died last Saturday December,26,1914 and the funeral took place Monday. He was one of the French Trio who came to Doniphan county in the pioneer days and attemped to establish a French Colony near Wathena, Kansas.
He lived to see the country around Wathena develop from it's wild untamed state to that of the best fruit country in the United States.

He is survived by his 6 Children-Juley, Mary, Josephine, Emma, Anna, and Edward...

Jules was married to Amelia Lazerlet 1836-1878 she was the mother to his 6 children.

He was laid to rest at Mount Calvary Cemetery, of Wathena, Kansas.

Witnesses: Brice Poirel, 27 years old, unskilled workman, maternal uncle of the child, and Augustin Rollin, 41 years old, unskilled workman, friend of the parents; the two witnesses are inhabitants of Hare'ville.....................
