Killed at Brownwood

An accident occurred at Brownwood last Thursday nigh in which Houston Mayfield of this place met is death by falling under a Santa Fe train.

He was on his way in the company of his brother, Jim Mayfield to the later's home in Brownwood. on their arrival at the station the unfortunate man was sliding from the car when train started up throwing him between the cars. He was dragged sine distance and when the released walked into the depot which was near by. When asked if he was seriously hurt he replied in the negative. It was soon apparent that he was fatally injured, and all effects of physicians to reifive him proved futile.

He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. F. Mayfield of Alvarado, and was 36 years of age. He was formally a fireman on the Santa Fe and was a member of the B of L.F. at Cleburne, some of whom attended the funeral at the place which occurred at Glenwood cemetery Saturday.

The man friends of the aged mother and other relatives sympathize with them in the sad misfortune.
