REV. RICHARD AINSWORTH
Ainsworth, Rev, Richard Harold Ainsworth of Manteo, NC, beloved father, grandfather, colleague and friend, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014, at the age of 87. Shortly after the deat of his wife, Virginia, (Ginny) Kring, Richard moved to the warmth of the Outer Banks from the frozen tundra of Wisconsin. He was ordained into the ministry on January 29, 1961 in Lakewood, Ohio. In the 53 years since, Richard served churches in seven states - Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, North Carolina and Wisconsin. In that time, he started several new churches, including the Roanake Island Presbyterian Church 26 years ago in Manteo, NC. Although Richard had been retired for many years, he still remained active in the church he was attending. His last "retired" call was from June 2003 - 2006 as the Visitation Pastor of Wauwatosa Presbyterian Church. Richard is survived by his daughter, Sharon Ainsworth; grandaughter, Sarah Ruhland; two sons, Paul Ainsworth and John Ainsworth; niece Susan Davidson and nephew Rev. Richard Ainsworth. He is preceded in death by his wife, father, mother and brother. Even though Richard was only in the Outer Banks for a year, the friendships he made, the roar of the ocean he listened to, the warmth of the sun, and the lack of snow, gave him the peace and strength he was looking for. The Outer Banks was truly his home. A memorial service will be held at Wauwatosa Presbyterian Church on Sunday, Aug. 17 at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wauwatosa Presbyterian Church, 2366 N. 80 St., Wauwatosa, WI 53213. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. Nags Head, NC was entrusted with arrangements, Condolences to the family may be expressed via the online register.
