Dolores was born June 25, 1927, in Manitowoc, to the late Leo and Sophia Katzka Mrozinski and has been a lifelong area resident. She was a graduate of the Lincoln High School and later attended Beauty School. Dolores married William Penkwitz July 19, 1947, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Manitowoc. She worked as a cook for several eating establishments. Dolores was a very active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot, and was also a member of the Altar Society. She enjoyed playing cards, and loved taking care of her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her loving husband: William; four daughters and two sons-in-law: Sharon and Richard Thorrington, of Manitowoc, Susan Penkwitz, of Mishicot, Sandra Schmitz, of Manitowoc, Rita and Rick Redeker, of Two Rivers: three sons and one daughter-in-law: Jerry and Terri Penkwitz, of Branch, Mark Penkwitz, of Manitowoc, Dave Penkwitz, of Two Rivers; 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by three infant daughters: Gail, Mary, and Ann Louise.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot, with the Reverend John Katumba officiating, with entombment to follow in the Knollwood Mausoleum.
Relatives and friends may call after 9 a.m. on Saturday at the church, until the time of service at 11 a.m. There will be no Friday evening visitation.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is established for the American Cancer Society.
The Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home of Mishicot is assisting the Penkwitz family with funeral arrangements.
