Bill Howard, 88, of Pilgrim, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2007 at Three Rivers Medical Center, in Louisa. Born November 18, 1918 in Pike County, the son of the late Willie Howard and Sarah Ann Lowe. He was a retired logger and member of Leanna Old Regular Baptist Church. Preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, James Lester Howard and Janet Howard Phillips; Mr. Howard is survived by his wife, Mary Jude Howard; 4 sons, Glen (Orgie) Howard, Ernie (Sarah) Howard, all of Pilgrim, Billy (Nancy) Howard, Melvin (Sandina) Howard, all of Inez; 5 daughters, Marie (Tom) Lawson, of Inez, Carrie (Donnie) Preece, Judy (Milton) Newsome, Rowena (Lotchie) Preece, and Amy Lucille (Jon) Edmonds, all of Pilgrim; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and, 1 great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, May 2nd at 2 P.M. at Phelps and Son Funeral Home, Inez, with Gabe Lowe Jr. and Ben Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the Garfield Moore Cemetery at Pilgrim. Arrangements under the direction of Phelps and Son Funeral Home, Inez.
