ALBERT KNAPP Near Stacy Basin Suicides by Hanging
Stacy Basin, June 29 -- Albert Knapp, a farmer living about a mile north of here on the road to Vienna, committed suicide yesterday. His body was found hanging in his barn about 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon, the discovery being made by his step-son, Jesse Noaker, who lives nearby. Knapp had not been seen since noon. He was alone at home at the time, as his housekeeper was working at the Empire State Canning factory here.
Mr. Knapp was about 60 year old. He had an attack of grip but no long ago, from which he did not appear to have fully recovered, and complained of pains in his back. Some of his friends thought he seemed depressed recently. Mr. Knapp was held in respect by all who knew him. He was industrious and of unquestioned honesty. He had a small farm of about 10 acres. He is survived by his wife, who lives in Rome, and a son who is in Massachusetts and a daughter in Albany. Coroner Lehr at Rome was notified of the suicide.
