Mr. David H. Baker, 59, of Bimble, passed away Saturday morning, May 16, 2015 at the Knox County Hospital. He was a son of the late Curtis and Catherine Buttery Baker born on January 5, 1956 at Himyar.

David was a carpenter and a member of the Springfield Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, camping, four-wheeling and riding motorcycles. Perhaps his greatest hobby was his work, as he described himself as a home builder.

On March 20, 1999, he united in marriage with Carolyn Hinkle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Harrison Davis.

Survivors include his loving wife, Carolyn Baker of Bimble; a daughter, Jessica Baker Foley of Himyar; two stepchildren, Michael Helton and wife, Sherrie, of Himyar and Lindsay McFerrin of Barbourville; two sisters, Sharron Davis of Himyar and Bess Baldwin and husband, Maurice, of Pawley’s Island, SC; two brothers, Mike Baker and wife, Tammy, of Mackey Bend and Scott Turner and wife, Joanne, of Morehead; a granddaughter, Catherine Jade Martin; several stepgrandchildren; several special nieces and nephews; a special friend, Tony Brown of Flat Lick; among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Tuesday, May 19 at 8 P.M. with Rev. Eli Broughton and Brian Barnhill officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Farley Cemetery at Himyar Wednesday, May 20 at 6 P.M.

Casket bearers will be Tony Brown, Jimmy Hubbard, Rex Rice, Adam Collins, Shawn Adams, Shane Davis, Michael Helton and Brent Sowders.

Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday after 2 P.M. until the funeral hour. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery Wednesday prior to 6 P.M.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
