Will was second of eight children born to Martha Ann Frances (nee Jones) and William Wimberley (spelling later changed to Wimberly). He was raised on a farm overlooking the Cumberland River and graduated from Cumberland University in Tennessee. He and three brothers, Stonewall, Jim and Luther, arrived in Houston by train, saw the land on Heights Boulevard at 7th Street, liked it and bought it. They opened one of the first grocery stores in the Heights about 1895. Will married Mamie Buhler on December 15, 1904 at the Baptist Tabernacle Church in Houston. He was an excellent carpenter and supervised the building of their home at 717 Yale. He worked as a clerk for the Texas (now Texaco) Company and retired after 25 years of service. He worked as a school crossing guard to past age 78. He was a member of Texaco Club of Houston, Reagan Lodge No. 1037, AF&AM, Arabia Shrine Temple, and in 1944, received the Degree of Super-Excellent Master Mason, San Jacinto Council No. 347, R&SM, and Houston Council No. 1, R&SM.
