In training in the Army Air Corps at West Texas State Teachers College in Canyon, TX.

Dad enlisted in the Army on February 12, 1943. There was no Air Force back then, but he moved on to the Army Air Corps. His good childhood buddy with whom he enlisted had a fear of heights, so Ed Schlecter went on to the infantry.

My dad (Gilbert D. Romberger) and his dad (Gilbert A. Romberger) up at the family summer place, Pine Run. Judging by grandpa's glove and the heavy coats, it wasn't summer that day.
