CLYDE – Vanita Marcia Spain, 73, of Clyde, died Sunday, May 17, 2015 at an Abilene hospital.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 21st at the Clyde Church of Christ with David Peterson officiating. Burial will follow in the Clyde Cemetery under the direction of Bailey-Howard Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Marcia was born July 1, 1941 in Roswell, New Mexico to James and Mamie (Coggin) Bland.
She attended school in Roswell and graduated from Artesia High School. She married Ervin Dale Spain July 1, 1958 in Artesia, New Mexico. They moved to Clyde in 2008 from Claremore, Oklahoma, having lived all over the United States. She was a homemaker and a member of the Clyde Church of Christ. They worked with the Sojourners doing Christian workshops, devotionals and church construction in 44 different states and she went on a mission trip to Russia in 1993.
Marcia is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ervin Dale Spain; one son, Donald Lee Spain and wife Ruby of Claremore, Oklahoma; two daughters, Teresa Lynn Ziegler and husband Joe of Claremore, Ok and Kathleen Ann Hayden of Baird; sister, Linda May Scott and husband Jimmy or Artesia, New Mexico; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Samantha Matthews.
