Charles was born August 29, 1922, in Linneus, Maine, to James and Alta (Outhouse) Bither. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and then married Constance Smith February 20, 1946, in Houlton, Maine. They moved in 1948 to Reedsport, Oregon, where he worked as a saw filer in the lumber mill.
In addition to his wife, Charles is survived by a son, Andrew Charles Bither of Thailand; three Daughters, Donna Jean Humphreys of Corvallis, Ann Constance Schuman of Springfield, and Patricia Clara Petrowsky of Tigard; two sisters, Emma Sanders of Houlton, Maine and Mildred Carlisle of Pineville, LA.; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
