Dorothy Maxine (Osborne) Jones, 82, of Roodhouse, went to meet her Lord and Savior Tuesday, May 19, 2015, while surrounded by her loving family.

She was born, Sept. 18, 1932, on Rook Hill east of Roodhouse. She was the daughter of Charlie Samuel and Eva Jane Brown Osborne. She married Samuel Eugene Jones, Sept. 18, 1949. He preceded her in death Dec. 29, 2010.

Surviving are three sons, Edward E. (Doris) Jones and James J. (Susan) Jones all of Roodhouse, William C. Jones of Manchester; two daughters, Donna Kay Jones of Roodhouse, Juanita Arlene (Larry) Newingham of rural Manchester; 19 grandchildren, Melissa (Rick) Cathers, Rogie ( Monica) Thady, Robyn Thady, Megan (Robert) Ewbank, Nicole Bishop, Jeremy Norris, Troy (Donna) Johnisee, Danny (JoEllen) Johnisee, Traci (Jerry) Rawe, Jeremy (Amy) Jones, Jason Jones, Jodi (Jason) Hinsey, Sam (Amanda) Newingham, Dotty Ford, Jennifer (Mike) McEvers, Amy Jones, Billy Ann (Doug) Bennett, Anne (Jim) Meisenheimer, Harvey (Kristi) DeJaynes; 49 great grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Iola Basham of Murrayville and Viola Secymore of Lynn Center. Dorothy was preceded in death by two daughters, Pam Crafton and Cheryl Jones, both in 2014; a great-grandson, Aaron Johnisee in 1991; six brothers, Edward, Henry, Kenneth, Leo, Harlan, and Harley Osborne; and two sisters, Betty Willis and Donna Jean Steckel.

Dorothy's family moved to Roodhouse when she was a baby. She attended school in Roodhouse, completing 8th grade. She was employed at the sewing factory in Roodhouse until she married Samuel. She and Sam moved to Scott County where she helped on the farm and soon began their family. She was a housewife and loving mother of seven children.

Dorothy was very active in the completion of the "Roodhouse Remembers Veterans Memorial." She owned and operated cafes in Morgan, Scott, and Greene counties. She was an EMT in Roodhouse and a nurse's aide. She received her GED in 2006! She served as president of the Jolly Club, Bunco Club, and American Legion Auxiliary Post 373.

Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Saturday at the Daws Family Funeral Home in Roodhouse. The family will greet friends 1 p.m. Saturday until time of the services at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Bowers Cemetery near Alsey at a later date.
