Bertha R. Hillman NORTHWOOD - Bertha R. Hillman, 85, of Northwood, died Tuesday (Oct. 23, 1984) at a Mason City hospital. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Shell Rock Lutheran Church, Northwood, with burial in the North Shell Rock Cemetery, rural Northwood. The Rev. Alf Merseth will officiate. Visitation will be after 3 this afternoon at Conner Colonial Chapel, Northwood. Mrs. Hillman was born July 22, 1899, in Worth County, to Henry and Inger (Ferley) Hanson. She married Arthur Hillman on Sept. 4, 1920, in Worth County, and they lived and farmed in the Northwood area most of their lives. She was a member of the First Shell Rock Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid of the church. Survivors include a son, Dale Hillman, Gordonsville, Minn., and seven daughters, Mrs. George (Inez) Henrichs, Silver Springs, Nev.; Mrs. Russell (Delores) Appel, Lake Mills; Mrs. Ray (Bernice) Stevens Jr., Albert Lea, Minn.; Mrs. Herschel (Ruth) Stevens, Albert Lea, Minn.; Mrs. Wayne (Dorothy) Estes, Northwood; Mrs. Dewayne (Mavis) Roppe, Northwood, and Mrs. Merle (Junice) Skogen, Albert Lea, Minn. Also surviving are two daughters-in-law, Alberta Hillman, Glenville, Minn., and Frances Hillman, Gordonsville, Minn., along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also, a sister, Mrs. Cora Rustad, Deer River, Minn., and a brother, Hartwig Hanson, Mason City.
