Alice "Alise" Welch Daggett, 84, loving wife, mother and grandmother, greeted her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, May 21, 2015.
Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park.
Alise was born Oct. 9, 1930, in Little Rock, Ark., to Charles and Alice Welch. She attended Mary Baldwin College and graduated with a bachelor's degree in education from the University of New Mexico. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Alise moved to Texas and began her teaching career in the Fort Worth elementary schools where she shared her love of learning with her many first-grade students. In Fort Worth, Alise met the love of her life, Dan Hamilton Daggett, and they were married in 1964. They were blessed with 51 years of marriage and shared travels, a love of dancing, and the joy of raising their family together. They were deeply devoted to the Lord and to each other and had a truly beautiful marriage that was an example and inspiration to their family and friends. Alise's greatest joy was sharing the love of Jesus with her family and others. She served as a discussion group leader in Bible Study Fellowship for many years and as a prayer action group leader for Concerned Women of America. She was a faithful prayer warrior who prayed daily for her family, friends and nation. Even during the last weeks of her life, Alise continued to reach out to others and share the love of Christ with them. She gave devotional books to a number of staff at the hospital and at the nursing home where she spent the last weeks of her life. Alise was a member of McKinney Bible Church, The Woman's Club of Fort Worth, and Colonial Country Club. Because of her warm smile and caring personality, Alise made friends wherever she went and touched all who knew her. She would light up a room when she entered it. Alise smiled with her eyes and, without a word being said, others could see the love of Jesus in her heart just by looking at her. She spent many happy years raising her children and spending time with her four grandchildren who affectionately called her "Gigi" and "Grandma Alise." One of her greatest joys was investing in her family through her time and her love. Her family will forever have many happy memories of their years together with her. Survivors: Husband, Dan Hamilton Daggett; children, Melinda Daggett Moyer and husband, John, and Charles Daggett and wife, Debbie; and grandchildren, Grace and Matthew Moyer, and Chaz and Drew Daggett.
