Mrs. Mary Katherine [sic] Michael, 24-year-old former Bloomington resident, died early this morning in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otis Rush, 803 South Rogers Street, where she was brought last week from Los Angeles, California, by her husband, Claude Michael. Death was caused by cancer.
Born in Monroe County, Mrs. Michael lived most of her life in Bloomington, attended the elementary schools here and was graduated from the Bloomington High School. While in high school she played the cello in the orchestra, under the direction of Mr. Sharp. She was a member of the First Baptist church.
Before her marriage November 11, 1940, she was employed in the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Beard and Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Buchannan. After her marriage to Claude Michael, who is employed by the Santa Fe Railway Company, the couple had made their home in New Jersey, Indianapolis, and Los Angeles, California.
A sister of Mrs. Michael, Margaret Fern Rush, was drowned last May.
Survivors are besides the parents and husband, four sister, Mrs. Ben White, Wagner, Oklahoma, Mrs. Norvin Alvey, Indianapolis, Mrs. Winifred Wisley and Miss Martha Rush, both of Bloomington; three brothers, Gilbert E. Rush, Paris Illinois; Leroy Rush, and Samuel Thomas Rush both of Bloomington.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon in the First Baptist church. The Rev. Douglas Rae will officiate and burial will be in the Clear Creek cemetery.
The body will remain at the home of the parents, 803 South Rogers Street, until time for the funeral.
