Other survivors include his children, Tammy and Terry; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Holt of Covington, Indiana and Edna Mae(Don)Whitecotten of Crawfordsville, Indiana. Richard was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
Richard retired in 1983 from the Olin Corporation in Covington, Indiana as a chemical building operator. He served four years with the Army Nation Guard. Richard attended the Scott's Prairie Christian Church. A 1955 graduate of Perrysville High School, Richard attended Indiana Central and Purdue University. He enjoyed playing his upright double bass for the Lord with the Assurance Gospel Group; farming; camping; watching High School, College and NBA Basketball; NFL Football and the Manning brothers, Peyton & Eli.
Private family graveside services were held Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at West Liberty Cemetery south of Covington, Indiana; Officiating: Pastor Jerry Holdman of Scott's Prairie Christian Church; The family request contributions to the Scott's Prairie Christian Church or the donor's favorite church. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana assisted the family with arrangements."
