Carol Ann Messman, age 66, of 14312 State Hwy. 42, Two Rivers,
died Thursday morning, June 11, 2009, at Aurora Medical Center,
Two Rivers.
Carol was born Sept. 4, 1942, in the town of Schleswig to the late
Ralph and Eldora (Schnell) Matznick. She attended Fountain Park
Grade School and graduated from Kiel High School with the class of
1960. Carol worked at the Leverenz Shoe Factory in New Holstein
until her marriage to Herbert F. Messman Jr. on April 4, 1964, at
Bethlehem Evangelical Reformed Church in the town of Schleswig.
After their marriage, Carol was employed at Hamilton Industries and
Mirro Aluminum, until starting a family. She then helped with the farming
operation that she and her husband took over in 1967. She was an
active member of St. John's Lutheran Church and Dorcas Society in
Two Creeks; and she enjoyed singing and gathering with family and
friends.
She was blessed with three daughters and sons-in-law: Brenda and
Kevin Willert, Manitowoc, Linda and Randall Schneider, Green
Bay, Sherry and Jason Knier, Reedsville; and one son, Gregory
Messman of Green Bay; six grandchildren, Shawn and Nathan
Schneider; Elijah and Jordan Willert; and Cole and Alyssa Knier.
She is further survived by three brothers and two sisters-in-law:
Willard (Tharcilla) Matznick, New Holstein, Ronald (Sally) Matznick,
Kiel, Marlin Matznick, New Holstein; several brothers-in-law and
sisters-in-law include: David and Jane Messman, Manitowoc, Charles
and Claire Messman, Two Rivers, Doris Peterson, Two Rivers, and
Arnold Kabat, Manitowoc; many nieces, nephews, other relatives
and friends also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her husband Herb, May 13, 1996; her father-in-law and
mother-in-law: Herbert and Irene Messman Sr.; one brother: Allen
Matznick; two infant brothers: Vernon and Wallace; one sister: Alice
Kabat; and a brother-in-law: Floyd Peterson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2009, at
St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Creeks. Rev. Maurice
Hoppe will officiate at the service, with entombment to follow in
Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, Hwy. 310, Manitowoc.
Friends may call at the Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18th St.,
Two Rivers, from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2009, and at the
church Monday, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Two Creeks,
or the Donors Choice.
