Martha Levina Armstrong, Came to Bond County in 1831, her Father Henry Sawrey, was born 15 June 1777, Mother Mary Sherrod, was born 4 March 1791, she married her husband Wesley Armstrong, at Mulberry Grove, August 4, 1834, by Rev William Hunter, "I have had a very interesting Life" had a good husband, he died 1873, I am the mother of Twelve Children, three boys and nine girls, I have forty seven grandchildren, twenty Great Grand-children, "I have been a widow for seventeen years, I can say that God has wonderfully sustained me in all the vicissitudes of Life although he moves in mysterious ways, Last November my house burnt with all the contents on Thanksgiving day" I met with an accident by which I am now a cripple and may be for life, yet at the age of seventy seven years I still feel that the same God who has sustained me all these years will care for me still, signed; Martha Armstrong, Dudleyville, Dec. 27, 1890

Martha Armstrong, widow of late Wesley Armstrong, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. T. R. Mayfield , near Dudley, Bond County Illinois, December 7, 1891, she was born in Maury County Tennessee, October 6, 1814, being at the age of her death 77 years 2 months old, her maiden name was Martha Sawrey, she was married August 14, 1834 and lived with her husband 39 years, to this union were born 12 children, 9 daughters and 3 sons, five daughters preceded her in death.

Wesley Armstrong, was born 2 August 1811, Maury County Tennessee, he came with his father Joseph Armstrong, and family to Illinois and settled in Bond County in 1831, In 1834, he married Martha L. Sawrey, the now bereaved widow, he settled first near Mulberry Grove, some years past he moved North to Greenville, where he raised a large family, last October he moved to Nebraska, and lived with his son, Wilson Armstrong, at Fairbury, where he died November 1873.
