He had been a member of the Stanberry Fire Department for many years and members of the fire department served as his pallbearers.
Born near Denver, Mo, he was the son of Joe and Martha Black Branson. He attended school near Denver and lived there during his youth. Before moving to Stanberry, he had also resided at Fairfax, Mo.
A resident of Stanberry for eight years, he organzied the Poe and Branson Body and Fender Works. Later, he was employed as a mechanic at the Gilliland Garage.
He was surived by his wife, Mrs. Alma Branson, of the home; three sons, Homer Branson of Shreveport, LA; Cleo Branson of San Diego, CA; and J.W. Branson of Denver, COLO.; and three daughters, Mrs. Mazie Boyer of Fairplay, COLO.; and Rachel and Wanda Branson of the home.
He's also survived by several step-daughters and sixteen grandchildren.
The last rites were held at the First Christian Church, Rev. Chas R. Hagee officiating.
