David, 65, was the son of Valentine Branson and Sarah Randolph Smith Richmond of Denver, MO, Worth County.

In 1867, he married Sarah Ellen Ward Ridley (B: 1852 Kansas or CA) in Worth County, Mo. The couple moved to Walnut Creek Twnship, Brown County, Kansas where they worked on Sarah's father's farm.

They had three children: Hiram Arthur Branson B: 1879, MO D: Aug 21, 1902 Victor, Ravalli Co., MT; William H. Branson B: Mar. 19, 1876 D: Oct. 5, 1916; George Irvin Branson B: Jan. 7, 1873 D: May. 8, 1921,

Sarah and her father Reuben likely died before 1880, as David Branson, was living in Washington, Brown, Kansas according to the 1880 Census, as a farm laborer for another household--so apparently the Ridley farm was lost.

What happened to Sarah, the kids, and the farm? I don't know. Perhaps hard times fell upon the family and David sent the kids back home to Denver. He was also living there in 1883 when he married Nancy Walker.

Nancy didn't live long, for in 1900, David was living in his son George's home in Denver and David is listed as a widow on the 1900 Federal Census.

David died in 1909 and was buried at the Hoblet Cemetery in Denver, Mo. The inscription on his tomb says: "Son of Valentine and Sarah."
