Clarence B. Alford, 74, owner and operator of Downey & Jones Jewelers here, died Thursday morning [December 15] in Lewisburg Community Hospital following several months illness. His funeral was held Friday in the chapel of London Funeral Home by Rev. Paul Woodford, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Lewisburg. Internment was in Lone Oak Cemetery.
In March of this year, Mr. Alford celebrated fifty years of business in Lewisburg. He was a native of Lawrence County, the son of the late B.J. and Estella Moore Alford and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
