Clara Ruth Brown Brooks, 78, of the Lake Burton Community, was born in Macon County, North Carolina the daughter of John Thomas Brown and Roxie Lamb Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Brewer and a brother, Edward “Bill” Brown. Mrs. Brooks is survived by her loving husband, Bobby Gene Brooks, two sons, Aubrey Brooks and Gil Brooks, one daughter, Vickie Brown, one sister, Jewell Cooper, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Brooks was the owner and operator of Brooks’ Lil General Store, Campground, Brooks’ Farm, and Brooks’ Restaurant. She also bought and restored rental properties. She was a friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed her friendships with all of the people that came by the store, and she readily helped anyone who needed it. She loved politics and was a staunch Republican as well as a strong leader who led by example and helped pave the way for family and friends. She attended Rocky Grove Baptist Church and was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
